Decoding "98% absorption" claims
Liquid supplement marketing leans hard on precise-sounding absorption numbers: "your body absorbs 98% of liquid vitamins but only 10–20% of pills." Treat any such figure with suspicion, for three reasons. First, these numbers rarely cite a source, and when traced they tend to lead to no published study at all — they circulate from sales page to sales page. Second, they conflate dissolution (does the product release its contents — where liquids do have an edge over bad tablets) with absorption (does the nutrient cross the intestinal wall — which depends on the nutrient, your gut, dose, and what you ate, not the bottle). Third, no format changes a nutrient's intrinsic absorbability: curcumin is poorly absorbed from a liquid too; well-formulated vitamin C absorbs well from a decent tablet.
